As part of their four-year partnership with Walk 4 Pancreatic Cancer on the Santa Clara campus, the Bronco volleyball team is participating in National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month on Thurs., Nov. 8 when they host USF at 6 pm at the Leavey Center.

While red and white are normally Santa Clara's colors, anyone who wears PURPLE will be admitted to the game FREE.  So wear your PURPLE with PRIDE!

At 6 pm, prior to the match, the Bronco volleyball team, along with the Santa Clara women's golf, men's basketball, women's basketball teams, will present Dr. Margaret Tempero with a check for $90,000. The check represents the four years of fundraising for UCSF Pancreatic Cancer Research, including more than $36,000 from this past year.  The women's golf and two basketball teams have supported the walk throughout its existence by meeting and greeting walkers and participating in the walk.

"I really hope people come early on Thursday night and are there for the check presentation to UCSF.  Dr. Tempero is the lead research doctor at UCSF.  Dr. Tempero and her research team are making great strides in developing a cure for Pancreatic Cancer," said Bronco head volleyball coach Jon Wallace.  "I am proud of my team's efforts with hosting this walk.  I also salute the other Bronco teams that have been involved including women's golf, men's basketball and women's basketball. I encourage everyone in the Bronco family, on campus and in the community to walk next year on May 11, 2013 to help us continue to raise money for this research." 

The Santa Clara volleyball team will also be recognizing a very special fourth grade class from Sacred Heart Parish.  As third graders last year, they donated their birthday fund to UCSF to help in their research for early detection and a cure.
