SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis signed Karlo Kranic, a transfer from Ole Miss and the former No. 1 ranked junior player in Croatia, for the 2021-22 season.  Broncos head coach Niall Angus made the announcement.

Kranic will sit out the 2020-21 season due to NCAA transfer rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"I have loved California since I was a kid and always was a computer geek.  After some thinking I realized that the combination of tennis and computer science was what I was looking for and I knew Santa Clara was going to be a top pick for me," said Kranic.  "I heard the team was great and the coaches too and I want to be a part of a 'family' and secure as many wins as I can for the team."

In his freshman campaign with the Rebels in 2018-19, Kranic posted a 9-6 singles record going 2-2 on court three and 7-4 on court four.  In doubles action, he went 6-6 and played primarily on court three with a 5-4 record.  Kranic did not compete in the 2019-20 season.

Back on February 27, 2019, Kranic was named Southeast Conference Freshman of the Week after he picked up four victories to help Ole Miss land in the finals of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic.

Kranic, who competed for the Croatia National Team, boasts a career-best ITF World Junior ranking of No. 123 and an ATP world ranking of No. 1069.  He also reached the semifinals of an ITF futures event and won an ITF futures doubles title.

"Karlo is a fantastic addition to our program.  Adding a player the level of Karlo not only drastically strengthens our team, but also improves the level of our current players," said Angus.  "His experience and leadership is something that the program will benefit from and his results at every level from ITF Juniors to his time in college and at the ATP level speak for themselves. We are looking forward to Karlo making a significant impact in both the singles and doubles lineups in fall 2021."
