Shah Defeats Nationally Ranked Player; Men’s Tennis Falls to Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford defeated Santa Clara men's tennis 6-1 on Friday with the lone Bronco point coming from Mann Shah's three-set victory over No. 119-ranked Tristan Boyer.

The Cardinal (1-0) opened their 2021 spring season picking up the first six points before Shah's win, who came back from a set down to beat Boyer 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 atop the singles lineup.

Stanford clinched the match on court three when Timothy Sah took down Dominic Barretto 6-1, 6-3.

Freshman Guillaume Dalmasso tasted defeat for the first time this season after winning his first four collegiate matches.  Moving up to the number two spot, Dalmasso fell to No. 94 Arthur Fery 6-4, 6-2. 

NEXT UP: The Broncos were scheduled to play Idaho on Sunday, but that match has been canceled. Santa Clara will face New Mexico at home on Wednesday.
