Freman Holds 1-Shot Lead After Two Rounds Of Colby Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Sophomore Annie Freman has a one shot lead and the Santa Clara women's golf team holds the fourth and fifth spots after the first day of competition at the SCU Colby Invitational, being competed on the 6,227-yard, par-72 Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose.

In a late change to the team lineup for the event, the Broncos inserted a second 'B' team to compete with its top squad and six other schools. After a first round 308 that saw them three shots behind Cal Poly for the lead, the Broncos posted a 319 second round score to drop to fourth place, 13 strokes behind UC Riverside, who overtook Cal Poly in the second round. Cal State Northridge sits in third place.

On a drizzly overcast day, Santa Clara's 'B' team posted a 316 second round score after an opening round 322 and trails the 'A' team by 11 strokes. The two teams will be matched with each other and IUPUI for Tuesday's final round.
