SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's golf team concludes its fall season this weekend competing in the 13-team Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational, to be held at the 6,040-yard, par-73 Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande.
It's a short turnaround for the Broncos, who just took second place at their own Colby Invitational that ended on Tuesday. Santa Clara scored rounds of 308, 319 and 309 to finish nine shots behind UC Riverside. The Broncos took home runner-up honors for the third time in four fall events. Sophomore Annie Freman is the defending Firestone Grill Invitational champion having won last year's event with a 4-under 142 total that included her career-low score of 69 in the final round. Freman has been the Broncos' top finisher three times with a season-best second place finish at last week's Colby Invitational. Freman needs just one tournament victory to match Miki Ueoka's (2008-11) school record of four.
Freshman Isabella Salant fired a career-low and tournament-low tying round of even-par 72 in the third round at the Colby Invitational to lift her into a third place finish at 229 (+13). Junior Monique Riley had the best finish of her collegiate career tying for seventh at the Colby Invitational with rounds of 76, 81 and 76.
Junior Meghan Shain has scored a 79 in each of her last four rounds and placed in a tie for 12th with a 237 total at last week's Colby Invitational. Shain, Freman and Riley are the only players to participate on the Broncos' A team in all four events this fall.
"They're young and they have a lot of potential and they're plugging away and working hard so as a coach that's all I can ask for," head coach Krystal Kelly said of her team after last week's Colby Invitational.

Details: A single 18-hole round will be played both Saturday and Sunday for a total of 36. Saturday's round will tee off from the first and tenth holes at 8:30 a.m. (PT) while Sunday's final round will begin with a shotgun start also at 8:30 a.m. (PT).
