Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Soccer: Machaela George

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Preparing for the future, the Santa Clara women's team welcomes Machaela George from the 2016 signing class to the Bronco roster.

"I choose Santa Clara because not only did I fall in love with the coaches and girls on the team but I fell in love with the school and what Santa Clara stands for," said George.

"I'm looking forward to Machaela being part of our team," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "She is one of the most versatile players in our group. She's one of the few freshmen that will come in here and compete for a starting position."

A native of San Clemente, Calif., George plays soccer and runs track at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. While on the pitch, George helped lead her squad to the 2014 CIF State Championship and two Trinity League titles. The soon to be Santa Clara freshman also led her Olympic Development Program squad to a national championship in 2014.

For her accomplishments, George was named a Trinity League honorable mention team member, First Team All League member and MVP of her high school team.

George hails from an athletic lineage of soccer players. Her father, Sam George, competed on the pitch for the Bruins of the University of California, Los Angeles before playing for three squads in the MLS. George also has four uncles who have suited up for a number of universities across the country.

In her free time, George enjoys exercising, spending time with her family and friends, and visiting the beach.
