Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Soccer: Courtney Ogren

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Gearing up for another soccer season, the Santa Clara women's team welcomes Courtney Ogren from the 2016 signing class to the Bronco roster.

"My dream has always been to play for and be a part of this program," said Ogren. "With teammates that share the same commitment to excellence, and coaches that lead the way, I cannot think of a better place for me to be for the next four years."

"I'm really excited about Courtney coming to Santa Clara," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "She is an amazing athlete and has a great skillset. She drives the ball very far and goalkeeper distribution is always a key. She has great physical tools and we're looking forward to her coming in here and competing for the goalkeeper position."

Residing just up the peninsula in San Carlos, Calif., Ogren currently attends St. Francis High School where she plays both soccer and football. Orgen helped lead the Lancers to a WCAL Co-Championship and CCS semifinal appearance in 2015. Rewarded for her successes on the pitch, Ogren was named WCAL Junior of the Year and was also named to the WCAL All League First Team and San Jose Mercury News First Team.

In club play, Ogren and her squad captured the ENCL National Championship in 2013. Playing in goal, Ogren did not allow a single goal during the playoff tournament.

On the gridiron, Ogren was the first female to suit up for the football team in St. Francis history. As a place kicker, she played a part in the Lancers' run through the state playoffs this past fall.

Coming from an athletic family, Ogren joins her brother Curtis and uncle Stan Davies as a collegiate student-athlete. Curtis Ogren currently swims for Stanford University and Davies previously played for the Santa Clara baseball team.

In her spare time, Ogren enjoys traveling the globe. To date, she has visited over 20 different countries.
