Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Soccer: Kate Kircher

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Gearing up for another soccer season, the Santa Clara women's team welcomes Kate Kircher from the 2016 signing class to the Bronco roster.

"It is the perfect school for me to thrive in a challenging school environment and push myself on the soccer field," said Kircher.

"I'm excited to have Kate come to the team," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "She will give us much needed depth at our goalkeeper position. You always want to have three goalkeepers so Kate will provide us with that depth."

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Kircher currently attends Saint Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco. In goal, the soon to be Santa Clara freshman has racked up nine shutouts so far this season, improving upon her eight shutout performances as junior. During her first two years in the high school net, Kircher propelled the Wildcats to two WCAL championships and a combined record of 21-1-6.

On the club side, Kircher's squad has tallied a record of 15-6-3. During that run, she has posted 13 shutouts to go along with three goals.

A leader in the community, Kircher participates in a number of clubs both on and off campus, having amassed over 250 community service hours during her high school career.

In her spare time, Kircher enjoys photography, music, art and helping out in her community.
