Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper Named Player of the Week

TopDrawerSoccer.com Release

Santa Clara women's soccer goalkeeper Marlee Nicolos was named Player of the Week by TopDrawerSoccer.com after back-to-back shutouts in the NCAA Tournament to help the Broncos advance to the College Cup.

In the third round, the 11th-seeded Santa Clara defeated the sixth-seeded Arkansas 2-0 where Nicolos made three saves.  Against the No. 14 seed Clemson in the quarterfinals, the redshirt freshman stopped all six shots on goal for her second-straight clean sheet to help SCU to a 1-0 over the Tigers.

On the year, Nicolos has allowed seven goals while posting a 0.76 goals-against-average.  She has made 27 saves and has a .794 save percentage.  The Broncos have six shutouts as a team, including three in the last four games.

The Broncos are set to take on No. 2 seed North Carolina in the semifinal of the NCAA Tournament in Cary, North Carolina on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Pacific.

Along with Nicolos, forwards Julie Doyle and Izzy D'Aquila were named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com's Team of the Week.
