Four From Women's Soccer Named All-West Region

NCAA Tournament Bracket

KANSAS CITY, Mo.
– Ahead of the 11th national semifinals in program history, Santa Clara women's soccer had four players named First Team All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday.

Seniors Alex Loera, Julie Doyle, and Kelsey Turnbow, along with sophomore Izzy D'Aquila were the Broncos honored. It is the fourth nod in a row for Turnbow and the third for Loera. D'Aquila was named Second Team last season and it is the first honor for Doyle.

Turnbow leads the Broncos with eight goals and 20 points while adding three game-winners. She is tied for 11th in the country with 2.0 points per game and was First Team All-WCC for the fourth year in a row.

Loera, the WCC Defensive Player of the Year each of the last two years, has been an anchor on the back line. She has helped the Broncos post six shutouts, including two in a row and three in the last four matches. They have allowed just seven goals in 10 matches this season. Loera has one assist this year and was named First Team All-WCC for the third year in a row.

D'Aquila, the 2019 WCC Freshman of the Year, is second on the team with seven goals and has added two assists, including in the lone goal of the Broncos quarterfinal win over Clemson on Sunday. She was also a First Team All-WCC selection this year.

Doyle, another First Team All-WCC pick, has scored one goal this year, the game-winner at BYU, while adding four assists. She has stepped up her game in the NCAA Tournament, assisting on both goals in Santa Clara's win over Arkansas in the third round.

The No.11 seed Broncos will face No. 2 seed North Carolina Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Pacific in the national semifinals in Cary, N.C. The match will air on ESPN2 with Jenn Hildreth and Lori Lindsey on the call.
