Turnbow's Player of the Year Honor Leads No. 1 Women's Soccer's Top Drawer Soccer Postseason Awards

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Fresh off the second National Championship in program history, No. 1 Santa Clara women's soccer had six honored on the Top Drawer Soccer Best XI Teams.

Kelsey Turnbow brought home Player of the Year honors with head coach Jerry Smith being named the Coach of the Year. Turnbow and Alex Loera, the Offensive and Defensive Most Outstanding Players of the College Cup, were named to the first team with Izzy D'Aquila on the second team. Sally Menti and Marlee Nicolos were on the freshman team.

Turnbow finished the NCAA Tournament with three goals, including the game-tying strike in the finals against top-seeded Florida State. After scored 10 goals in 12 matches this season, she was also named Third Team All-America, First Team All-West Region, and First Team All-WCC.

Loera led a Broncos backline that allowed just three goals in five matches against some of the best offenses in the country. The Broncos allowed one goal each to Florida State, who finished sixth in the country in scoring with 2.6 goals per match, and North Carolina who finished 11th at 2.5 goals per match. They shutout Arkansas, the 18th-best offense that scored 2.3 goals per match. Loera was a Second Team All-America pick, First Team All-West Region, the WCC Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row, and First Team All-WCC. She is also a finalist for the Honda Award.

D'Aquila connected on the game-winning penalty kick in the championship match and led Santa Clara with three goals, two assists, and eight points. She had a goal and an assist in the semifinal victory over No. 2 North Carolina. The sophomore was also First Team All-West Region and First Team All-WCC.

Menti scored the lone goal in the Broncos quarterfinal matchup with Clemson and added two assists throughout the tournament. She was the WCC Freshman of the Year, Second Team All-WCC, and WCC All-Freshman.

Nicolos had a 0.57 GAA across Santa Clara's five tournament games and made 18 saves to post a .857 save percentage. She made big save after big save throughout the Broncos run, including snuffing out several rallies in the College Cup. After posting clean sheets against Arkansas and Clemson, she was named the Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week.
