KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Alex Loera and Kelsey Turnbow of Santa Clara women's soccer have been named 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches College Player Award of Distinction recipients.

United Soccer Coaches is committed to extending opportunities for its college members to recognize their significant players and contributions to their programs. The new College Player Award of Distinction was established this spring for its member head coaches to submit deserving player based on one or more of the following criteria:

• Player has achieved quality performance on the field;
• Represented the highest ideals of team leadership;
• Exhibited quality character attributes including sportsmanship and respect for teammates, opponents, officials and the game in general;
• Made other significant contributions to the benefit of the program and the community.

The senior duo helped lead the Broncos to their second National Championship with a win over top-seeded Florida State May 17. They brought home College Cup Offensive and Defensive Most Outstanding Player awards to cap the magical run.

Loera became the fourth Bronco to win the Honda Award and was also Second Team All-America, First Team All-West Region, WCC Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row, and First Team All-WCC for the third consecutive season.

Turnbow led Santa Clara with 10 goals and 24 points while being named Top Drawer Soccer's Player of the Year, Third Team All-America, First Team All-West Region, and First Team All-WCC for the fourth time.
