Softball Adds Rylan Sandoval as Assistant Coach

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball has hired Rylan Sandoval as an assistant coach. He hails from Hayward, California and attended Chabot College. Sandoval will primarily work with the infielders and hitters.

"I am very excited to have this opportunity," said Sandoval. "This seems like a very talented group of girls and I am excited to help better this program. The other coaches and myself will work very well together and I'm ready to get to work."

"I'm very excited to bring Rylan Sandoval onto our staff," said Santa Clara head coach Lisa Mize. "With his all-encompassing baseball background and professional experience, as well as his International experience with the USA Men's Fastpitch National team, he brings a wealth of knowledge to our program.""

The New York Mets took Sandoval in the MLB Draft in 2007 in the 30th round. He played five seasons in the minor leagues, getting as high as Triple-A, from 2010-14. He is also a member of USA Softball.
