SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball senior Casandra Padilla and sophomore Ellie Fisher were named to the 2016 All-WCC Preseason Softball Team on Wednesday. Last season Padilla was named First Team All-WCC and Fisher was named to the second team.

"Ellie and Cassie are both program changers for us," said Santa Clara head coach Lisa Mize. "It's great to see them both get this recognition."

In 2015 Padilla hit .303 and posted a .415 OBP thanks to 12 walks and 12 HBP, the third most in a single season in Bronco history. She is already No. 10 in Santa Clara history with 15 HBP. Padilla hit 11 doubles and three home runs to go with 20 runs scored and 12 RBI.

"Cassie is a huge presence in the infield with great range," said Mize. "Offensively she swings a big bat and is a hard out at the plate."

Fisher was one of two Broncos to start all 50 games in 2015 and led the team in batting average with a .342 mark and on-base percentage at .462. She also led the team with 31 walks, 27 runs scored, and 22 steals, good for second in the WCC, in 27 tries. She added a double, a triple, and nine RBI as well. Fisher's season peppered the Bronco single-season record book. She finished No. 1 in walks, No. 2 in stolen bases, No. 3 in OBP, and No. 10 in batting average.

"Ellie covers a ton of ground in the outfield and is fun to watch," said Mize. "Her speed is very impressive and puts a lot of pressure on our opponents defensively."

2016 ALL-WCC PRESEASON SOFTBALL TEAM
