SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Santa Clara men's golf senior Jack Avrit tallied his second top-15 finish of the fall, carding an even-par 72 during Sunday's final round to finish in a tie for 15th at 4-over 72-76-72--220 at the Desert Mountain Collegiate.
Avirt's round was part of a solid overall final 18 holes for the Broncos, who jumped three spots after shooting their lowest score of the tournament at 3-over 291. Santa Clara finished tied for 11th at 37-over 295-315-291-901. Host-Michigan was the tournament champion at 9-over 873.
Berk Harvey was 1-over 73 in the round and finished tied for 25th at 7-over 73-77-73--223. Alejandro Gutierrez had the Broncos' lowest score of the day at 2-under 70 and climbed 26 spots in the final standings to tie for 44th at 73-84-70--227. Jolo Magcalayo (240) and Zach Kaneshiro (243) finished 81st and 83rd, respectively, while individual Cameron Kaiser shot a three-round total of 230 to tie for 57th.
Southern Illinois' Matthis Besard won medalist honors 2-under 66-75-73--214 as one of just seven players in the field of 88 to finish at par or better.
The Broncos return to action March 22-23 at the Oregon Duck Invite in Eugene, Ore.
