Harvey, Kaneshiro Top-10 After El Macero Classic First Round

EL MACERO, Calif. - Senior golfers Berk Harvey and Zack Kaneshiro turned in two of the best rounds of the day during the opening round of action at the El Macero Classic. Harvey is tied for third at 4-under 68 while Kaneshiro is a shot back at 3-under 69 and tied for sixth. 

Harvey, who held a tie for the lead for the majority of the day and enters round two just one stroke behind, turned in five birdies as part of the round with a lone bogey coming on the par-3 No. 3. The 68 is tied for his second-lowest score of the year and third round in the 60s. 

Kaneshiro, coming off a tie for sixth in the Broncos' last tournament, countered four bogeys with seven birdies in his opening 18, including three-straight on hole Nos. 13-15. 

As a team, Santa Clara turned in an even-par 288 and currently sit in a tie for fifth UCLA, Sacramento State and Cal State Fullerton. 

Alejandro Gutterrez (3-over 75) is tied for 47th, Nolan Forsman (4-over 76) is tied for 56th and Jack Avrit (5-over 77) is tied for 63rd. The duo of Cameron Kaiser and Jolo Magcalayo are playing as inviduals. Magcaylo is tied for 56th and Kaiser (6-over 78) is tied for 72nd. 

LMU leads the field at 8-under 280, two shots ahead of Denver and Long Beach State (282). Tyler Schafer (Long Beach State) and Cameron Meeks (LMU) are tied for the individual lead of 5-under 67.
