Kaneshiro T-3rd After Open Round of Play At The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. - Santa Clara senior golfer Zack Kaneshiro shot a team-low 1-under 71 on Monday at the opening round of The Prestige at Greg Norman Course PGA West and is currently in a six-way tie for third after 18 holes of action. 

Kaneshiro was one of just eight total golfers in the field of 124 that was able to card a sub-par round for the day, and is just one stroke shy of the day one leaders Davis Bryant (Colorado State) and Reid Davenport (Vanderbilt). The Honolulu product tallied four birdies on the day. 

As a team, Santa Clara is right in the middle of the stacked 24-team field, currently in 13th at 14-over 298, and in front of three top-10 teams - No. 7 Texas Tech (299), No. 9 Stanford (302) and No. 5 Pepperdine (304). 

Jack Avrit is currently t-53rd at 4-over 75 while Berk Harvey is one stroke back at 5-over 76 and tied for 65th. Alejandro Gutierrez (77) and Konrad Brauckmeyer (79) round out the Bronco Lineup. 

No team in the field was able to card a sub-par round. No. 18 Vanderbilt and Oregon are tied for the lead at 3-over 287. 

The Broncos tee off round two with Oregon and No. 25 LSU tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. PT. Live scoring will be available through GolfStat.
