Men’s Soccer Dominates Holy Cross 3-0 in Season Opener on Friday
SANTA CLARA, Calif. Julian Bravo, Sam Agosti and Martin Aasen each tallied a goal to help Santa Clara men's soccer to a convincing 3-0 win over Holy Cross in the season opener.

The Broncos (1-0) outshot the Crusaders (0-1) 17-to-2 in the match, first breaking through in the 39th minute when Bravo headed in a cross from Dylan Carrubba beating Holy Cross goalkeeper Bobby Hurstak.

Alejandro Barajas led with a pass to a streaking Carrubba on the right side who sent in a service just inside the 18 to connect with Bravo to put the Broncos on the scoreboard.

The score remained 1-0 heading into the half with the Broncos holding a 7-to-1 advantage on shots and 3-to-0 on corner kicks.

Just two minutes into the second half, Santa Clara extended its lead to 2-0 when Sam Agosti kicked in a loose ball for his first career goal.   Bravo was again involved with the play when he picked up a misplayed ball by the Hurstak, getting him off his line before unleashing a shot that a Crusader defender made a save on.  Agosti pounced on the loose ball, reaching with his right foot to find the back of the net.

The Broncos closed out their scoring in the final minutes of the game on Aasen's first Bronco goal.  The sophomore defender took advantage of an opportunistic roll when the corner kick was cleared out to his feet where he drilled a low ball beating Hurstak on the left side.

Freshman goalkeeper Guillem Badenes Mecho recorded a clean sheet in his first collegiate start seeing only two shots on the day, in the 12th minute and in the closing seconds of the match.
