Men’s Soccer Get a 2-0 Shutout Win at Lipscomb on Friday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Santa Clara men's soccer shut out Lipscomb, 2-0, on Friday night behind solid defense and goals by Alan Camacho Soto and Isaac Addai.

Santa Clara (4-3-1) recorded its second shut out of the season and has not allowed more than a goal in any of its eight matches thus far.

"Tonight was just a great defensive effort, not just by the defenders positionally but by the entire team.  They did it on both sides of the ball and that made a huge difference," said Broncos head coach Cam Rast.  "The team was very diligent to take care of responsibilities as once they learned how to approach the game, I thought that's when the game shifted."

Camacho Soto put the Broncos on the board in the 33rd minute, when he chased down a deflected corner kick on the right side of the box, juggled the ball from his right foot to his left, pivoted and fired a left-footer to the near post, beating Lipscomb goalkeeper Alex Brown low.

"We were under a little bit of a pressure in the early part of game attacking wise.  But Alan came in and did a nice job holding the ball up front.   He found little bit of space, spun the defender and hit the shot which I think surprised their goalkeeper," said Rast.

The goal was his second of the season, tying him for the team lead with Sam Agosti.

The score remained 1-0 heading into intermission with the Broncos outshooting the Bisons, 6-3.

In the 78th minute, Isaac Addai made it a 2-0 game when he blasted a sliding shot from atop the box on a feed from Alejandro Perez.  It was the junior's first career goal, playing in his first match of the season.

"We had a couple of other chances to go up two goals but Isaac didn't miss his chance when he collected the ball and hammered the shot," said Rast.  " It was Isaac's first game back and we needed him to stretch the defense with his speed.  I'm super happy for him to work his back from being hurt."

Freshman goalkeeper Guillem Badenes Mecho had one save en route to his second career clean sheet.

The loss dropped Lipscomb to 2-4-1 on the year, a season removed from playing in the Sweet 16 of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

NOTES
Isaac Addai made his season debut coming off the bench to play 18 minutes.
• Addai is the 12th Bronco to score a goal this season.  Twelve Broncos have accounted for 14 total goals.
