Seven Men’s Soccer Student-Athletes Receive WCC All-Academic Recognitions

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer had seven players honored for their work in the classroom by the West Coast Conference with Sam Agosti being named WCC All-Academic.

Agosti was named to the All-Academic team for the third consecutive year, the only student-athlete receiving that distinction, with Alex Achramowicz, Alan Camacho Soto, Sakari Carter, Emil Christensen, Alejandro Perez and Javier Ruiz Duran named honorable mentions.

Achramowicz has a 3.299 GPA as a computer science & engineering major.  The junior midfielder played in 16 matches, including five starts.  This is the second time he was named conference All-Academic honorable mention.

Backline mates Sakari Carter and Emil Christensen were also recognized as honorable mentions for the first time.

Carter, a sophomore, started in 16 matches and has a 3.8 GPA.  The wide-back logged 1,349 minutes for the fourth highest total on the team and recorded his first career assist against San Diego State (Sept. 14).

Sophomore co-captain Christensen has a 3.516 GPA and started in all 17 matches and was named WCC and United Soccer Coaches All-West Region second team.  The Denmark native played a team-high 1,560 minutes and anchored the defense that had five shutouts on the season.

Perez, another sophomore, is a biology major with a 3.4 GPA and was recognized as an honorable mention for the first time.  He started in all 17 matches and logged 1,522 minutes, the second highest total on the team.  Perez recorded three points on the season, scoring his first career goal at UNLV (Sept. 22) and dishing out an assist at Lipscomb (Sept. 27).
