Men’s Soccer to Recognize 1998 & 1999 College Cup Teams at Thursday’s Men’s Basketball Game
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer is recognizing the 1998 and 1999 College Cup Teams during Thursday's men's basketball game against Saint Mary's, which tips off at 7 p.m. in Leavey Center.

The evening will include a special halftime ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the program's back-to-back College Cup appearances, the only group to accomplish such a feat at Santa Clara, with nearly all members of the team in attendance.

Honoring the men's soccer programs will be among many events around campus, including a number for athletics, for the school's annual Family Weekend.

Current Broncos head coach Cam Rast and associate head coach Eric Yamamoto who were then assistants on the team will be on hand and be joined by the players on the court.

The 1998 squad finished the season with a 15-5-2 record, including three in the postseason before its run ended in the semifinals to eventual national champion Indiana.  The honors and accolades were numerous for the Broncos with eight All-West Coast Conference selections, a pair of NCAA all-tournament picks and Denton was named All-American.

The following season, in 1999, Santa Clara finished with a 16-4-3 record, making it to their second consecutive College Cup appearance.  The team also featured eight All-WCC selections, three named to the NCAA all-tournament team with Denton and Eyre earning All-America honors.
