SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer signed Oladayo Thomas, a prolific goal scoring transfer from Gettysburg College, to join the program for the 2020 season.  Broncos head coach Cam Rast made the announcement.  

 

In two seasons at the Division III institution, the forward found the back of the net 23 times in 37 matches including 11 game-winners.  

 

"I chose Santa Clara because it provides me with the opportunity to pursue my academic and athletic career in a completely different environment," said Thomas.  "SCU just seemed like the ideal place to challenge myself more in order keep improving as a student-athlete."

 

Last season, Thomas led the Centennial Conference with 15 goals including eight game-winners and was named First-Team All-Conference for the second straight year leading the Bullets to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.  

 

The 2019 season followed a Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year campaign in 2018 where he scored eight goals to become the first Bullet to be named conference rookie of the year.  

 

"Oladayo is a forward minded player who likes to get behind defenses and score goals," said Rast.  "He is quick and deceptive allowing him to find quality goal scoring moments. His approach to the game is to work through tough moments and take advantage of opportunities as they present themselves.  He is a consummate team player and only wants to help his team succeed."
