SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer welcomed Andreu Cases Mundet, a three-year starter at Wake Forest and 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship MVP, to join the program this fall.

"I chose Santa Clara because it offers a great academic profile and the opportunity to play soccer at a very competitive level.  I also wanted to have the experience to live in California," said Cases Mundet who is from Spain.

At Wake Forest, the 5-foot-11 goalkeeper posted a 41-7-2 record and set the program record for career goals-against average of 0.63.  During a record-breaking sophomore campaign in 2017, Cases Mundet broke the program single-season record for goals-against average with a mark of 0.49.  That same season, he was named the ACC Championship MVP by posting two shutouts in the three tournament games including a stop to help clinch penalty kicks of the title match.

"Andreu is good friends with Javi (Ruiz Duran) and he was looking at utilizing his last year of eligibility as both are from Barcelona," said Broncos head coach Cam Rast.  "His experience and mentality are tremendous in helping teammates to have the mental makeup to be elite."
