SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Oladayo Thomas' brace helped lead Santa Clara men's soccer to a 3-0 win at San Diego in the season finale. It was the team's third win in a row and fourth in the final five matches.
Thomas scored the first two goals of the day for the Broncos (4-4, 4-3 WCC) with Juan O'Neill also getting in on the action in the second half. Liam Johnson, Javier Ruiz Duran, and Julian Bravo all added assists in the match as well.
Santa Clara outshot the Toreros (3-3-2, 3-2-2 WCC) 12-7 with an 8-3 advantage in shots on target.
Thomas' first came in the 27th minute when Johnson slipped a short pass in the box and Thomas was able to slip it past the San Diego's keeper Matt Wiher who finished with five saves.
Right out of halftime Thomas stuck again. This time a long pass from Ruiz Duran found Thomas' head right in front of the goal to make it 2-0.
O'Neill also headed his goal in in the 62nd minute, this one on a lobbed pass from Bravo.
Andreu Cases Mundet stopped all three shots on target he faced for the Broncos to post his third-straight shutout.
