SAN MATEO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer players Javier Ruiz Duran and Emil Christensen were named to the 2020-21 All-West Coast Conference preseason spring team by a vote of the league's eight head coaches, the league announced on Friday.

Ruiz Duran is a three-time all-conference selection, having been named to the All-Freshman team in 2017, the All-Conference second-team in 2018 and to the first-team following the 2019 campaign.  The senior forward from Barcelona, Spain, was also named third-team United Soccer Coaches All-West Region in 2019 after starting in all 17 matches and tied for the team lead in goals (four) and points (eight) including three game-winners.

Christensen, a junior defender from Nr. Snede, Denmark, garnered All-WCC second team honors following the 2019 season along with being named second-team United Soccer Coaches All-West Region.  A leader on the backline that was composed of two other sophomores and a freshman, the 6-foot-3 Christensen logged a team-high 1,560 minutes to help the team finish with five shutouts.

The Broncos were one of only three schools to have multiple all-conference selections along with LMU, which had three players, and Portland, which had two.

Last August, the WCC postponed the 2020 fall seasons for its member institutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Check back with SantaClaraBroncos.com for information relevant to the schedule.
