COUEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Santa Clara women's golf finished fifth at the season-opening Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational.
The Broncos carded a final-round, 9-over 293 on Tuesday to end up nine strokes behind tournament champion Hawai'i with a 28-over total of 880.
Santa Clara entered the day in third after rounds of 13-over 297 on Sunday and 6-over 290 on Monday, one shot back of second-round leaders Oral Roberts and Sacramento State in the 17-team field.
Borina Sutikto led the way for the Broncos at the three-day event that was played at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course. The freshman carded a 1-over 214 (73-71-70) to finish in a tie for third with Rivekka Jumagulova of Seattle.
Momo Sugiyama of Hawaii won the individual title with a 1-under 212, that included a final-round 68, tied for best of the day.
Inara Sharma of Santa Clara ended at 6-under 219 (75-71-73), which placed her in a three-way tie for 14th place. Claire Choi was the next Bronco on the leaderboard. She ended in a tie for 43rd at 13-over 226 (73-75-78) with teammate Madison Spiess, who carded rounds of 80-73-73.
Marie Jordaan rounded out the Santa Clara team. She was tied for 58th at 17-over 230 (76-77-77).
NOTES
- Santa Clara (1-under) was one of only three teams (also Oral Roberts and Hawai'i) which were under-par on the par-5 holes.
- The Broncos had 176 pars, which was tied with Sacramento State for first in the field.
- Borina Sutikto was even-par on the par-4 holes. Just three players were under-par.
