Women's Golf Runner-Up at Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational

TACOMA, Wash. - Top 10 finishes by Claire Choi, Borina Sutikto and Olivia Venderby had Santa Clara women's golf within striking distance for the team title at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational.

The Broncos carded a 25-over-par 889 (297-294-298) to finish second at the two-day event that was played at Tacoma Golf & Country Club course and concluded Tuesday.

They were just four shots back of host and champion Seattle, which shot rounds of 287-295-303 to reach its 21-over total. The Redhawks also led the 20-team field at the end of the first and second rounds, though the Broncos, who won this event in 2018, made up five shots during the final 18 holes.

Utah Valley was third at 31-over 895.

Rivekka Jumagulova of Seattle captured the individual title with a 5-under-par total of 211. Jocelyn Chee of California Baptist was second at 1-under and Choi was third at 2-over 218 (74-71-73).

Sutikto and Venderby had their two best performances as Broncos. Sutikto was tied for fifth at 4-over 220 (69-77-74) and Venderby was tied for eighth at 6-over 222 (76-73-72).

Inara Sharma and Madison Spiess rounded out the Santa Clara lineup. Sharma was tied for 34th with 13-over total of 229 (78-73-78) and Spiess ended at 34-over 250 (82-82-86).

NOTES

  • Santa Clara's 36 birdies led the field.
  • The Broncos were 2-over on the par 5 holes. Only Seattle and Utah Valley were better, each at even-par.

NEXT UP

The Broncos close out the fall season at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, which will be held Oct. 25-27 in Kapolei, Hawai'i.
