Broncos, Choi Lead After 36 Holes At Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. - Santa Clara women's golf is your day one leader after 36 holes of action at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. The Broncos finished the opening two rounds 9-over 292-293--585 to build a seven-stroke lead that they will carry with them into Tuesday's final round. 

Claire Choi and Skyler May were red-hot all day, and are currently fighting for medalist honors. Choi is the day one leader at 3-under 70-71--141 while May is right on her heels at 2-under 73-69--142. 

Choi's opening round saw the Honolulu product offset three back-nine bogeys with a trio of birdies. Her big moment of the day came on the par-4 No. 8 in which she eagled with two strokes. 

May tallied three birdies in her opening round before really finding her stroke in round two. The freshman from Stockton carded five birdies as part of her second-career round in the 60s, using the round to climb 16 spots on the leaderboard. 

Borina Sutikto turned in a pair of 2-over 74s to tie for 21st at 4-over 148. Lauren Shew (75-79--154) is tied for 51st and Inara Sharma (75-82--157) is tied for 67th while Naomi Wong, playing as individual in her season debut, carded a pair of 87s. 

Long Beach State (592), Grand Canyon (593) and Boise State (594) are all within 10 strokes of the Broncos' lead.
