SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis lost 5-2 to UC Davis in a nonconference match on Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center. The Aggies clinched the win at 4-1 while the Broncos picked a singles win after the outcome was decided in a match that was fully played out.
JennaMarie Gordon and Velizara Fileva picked up singles wins for the Broncos (0-2) who played their second match in as many days to open the spring season.
Arianna Stavropoulos clinched it for UC Davis (1-4) with a three-set victory over Finley Kalinic 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 on court three.
The Aggies also picked up singles wins by Carly Schwartzberg, Michelle Zell and Kaia Wolfe.
UC Davis jumped to a 1-0 lead when they swept the three doubles matches as Schwartzberg and Zell clinched the point with their 6-2 win over Dasee Carter and Varya Zlotnik on court three.
