SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis (0-6, 0-1 WCC) lost the West Coast Conference opener to BYU 4-0 on Saturday in a match that started at 10 a.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m. due to multiple rain delays.
The first delay came at the conclusion of doubles action where the Cougars (5-3, 2-1 WCC) took the point on Emmie Moore and Tina Li's victory over JennaMarie Gordon and Kacey Feng 6-3 at No.2.
Play resumed but early in the singles play, the second delay hit but it did not halt BYU's momentum. After another restart, the Cougars quickly picked up three-straight singles wins to capture the team win.
Li took care of Dasee Carter in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 to close out the match that lasted eight and a half hours from start to finish.

The Broncos close out the seven-match homestand on Friday against San José State. First serve is at 11 a.m.
