SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Under threatening skies, Santa Clara women's tennis and visiting CSUN was able to get their match played as the Matadors came up with a 4-2 victory before play was halted by rain.
With rain in the forecast, the two schools played singles first where CSUN (3-1) won the first four matches to clinch the victory. Sasha Turchak defeated Velizara Fileva 6-2, 6-3 on court two to secure the team win.
Santa Clara (0-3) picked up wins by JennaMarie Gordon and Dasee Carter for their two team points. Gordon downed Jolene Coetzee 6-3, 6-2 atop the lineup and Carter took care of Vitoria Solis 6-3, 6-4 on court five.
With the outcome of the already match decided, just two doubles matches were played but soon after the rain came.
