CLAREMONT, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis played on the road for the first time this spring and came up on the short end 4-0 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday from the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
Santa Clara (0-8) managed to get a split in the first two doubles matches on JennaMarie Gordon and Giulia Hayer's victory over Alisha Chulani and Nikolina Batoshvili on court one. However, Katherine Wurster and Sena Selby clinched the doubles point with their 6-4 win over Dasee Carter and Varya Zlotnik on court two.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (9-1) kept the momentum going in singles action winning all three matches at the bottom half of the lineup.
On court six, Batoshvili defeated Kacey Feng 6-3, 6-2 for the first singles point and to put the Athenas up 2-0 on the team score. Selby made it 3-0 with her win over Zlotnik 6-4, 6-1 on court five followed by the match clincher by Ella Brissett over Carter 6-3, 7-5 on court four.
