SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis picked up the doubles point but were unable to sustain the momentum in singles action and lost 4-1 to Pacific in a West Coast Conference match on Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center.
After dropping the doubles point, Pacific (6-4, 1-1 WCC) reeled off four-straight singles wins with Alexis Sam clinching the match downing Dasee Carter in three sets 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 on court five.
Santa Clara (0-11, 0-3 WCC) got doubles victories from JennaMarie Gordon and Velizara Fileva on court two as well as Carter and Kacey Feng on court three. The latter pair sealed the doubles point when they beat Danielle Zamora and Megan Carmichael 6-4.
In singles, Pacific knotted the team score at 1-all when Karina Chao quickly dispatched Feng 6-0, 6-0 on court three. The Tigers went up 2-1 on Tomi Main's straight-set win over Finley Kalinic 6-4, 6-3. That was followed by Zamora's victory over Feng 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
