LA JOLLA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis (0-16) went the distance today in their battle with UC San Diego (8-11) as the clinching point came in the fifth singles duel but three singles wins did not prove to be enough as they went home with a loss.
The Broncos got off to a good start in doubles as Dasee Carter anad Kacey Feng won their duel 6-0 but Santa Clara was not able to get the doubles point as they lost their other two matches.
Singles play for Santa Clara began with a win from Velizara Fileva as she took down UCSD's Grace Gamal 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, but would soon be followed by a loss 7-5, 6-3, in the match between Finley Kalinic and Ella Pachl.
The duel between the two schools would continue to go back and forth as Varya Zlotnik lost to her opponent 6-2, 6-2, not before Carter added another point for the Broncos as she won her match 7-5, 6-4.
The clinching point however would come in the match between Giulia Hayer and Katelyn Vu, with the Triton coming away with the win going 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. JennaMarie Gordon's match was able to be played out and was won by Gordon 6-1, 6-2, bringing the final score to 4-3.

The Broncos returns to West Coast Conference action at San Francisco on April 15.
