Kertson Named To WCC All-Academic Team

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Sophomore golfer Tyler Kertson earned more recognition from the West Coast Conference being named to the Men's Golf All-Academic Team, the league announced today.

The 2014 Freshman of the Year from Paradise Valley, Ariz. (Brophy College Prep), Kertson joins nine other golfers on the team after compiling a 3.69 GPA majoring in economics.

Kertson has competed in every event this season and ranks second on the team with a 73.07 average with eight sub-par scores in 30 rounds. He claimed his second career top-5 finish shooting three rounds under par at the Bill Cullum Invitational in October finishing fifth at 7-under 209.

Since coming to Santa Clara last season Kertson has played in every event covering 63 rounds with an average of 73.27. He has 16 career sub-par rounds and eight top 10 finishes in his two seasons.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
