Babacar Diallo: Transitioning to College Soccer

Babacar Diallo: Transitioning to College Soccer

By: Lillian Malmberg '17

SANTA CLARA, CALIF.- Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) spoke with freshman and Bay Area native, Babacar Diallo (BD) about his first season on the men's soccer team.

SCB: What is one thing that you are really excited about for this year?

BD: I am really excited about being a part of the men's soccer team. It is not only because I love soccer, but also the coaching staff helps me a lot with school, off the field distractions and soccer.

SCB: How has the transition from high school soccer to college soccer been?

BD: At the beginning, the transition was pretty hard because you don't learn that much during high school soccer and college soccer is faster and more realistic. Now, I feel like I have adjusted to college soccer pretty well even though there are some areas that I need to work on.

SCB: What is your favorite part about soccer?

BD: My favorite things about soccer are the excitement and the joy I feel when I'm playing. Soccer helps me to relax and to focus on positive things that will move me forward.

SCB: How do you spend most of your time when you're not on the field?

BD: I spend most of my time with teammates and some friends either playing PS3 or just doing homework.

SCB: You are from Oakland, do you enjoy being close to home?

BD: I really enjoy being close to home because I love the 510, and I can go visit family and friends when I have a free time.
