Men's Soccer Battles Stanford in Second Spring Game

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In the second game of the spring season, Santa Clara men's soccer fell to Stanford in Palo Alto. Next up the Broncos will host their annual Alumni Game Sun., April 26 at 2 p.m.

"The game was a great matchup for us against a team that's been having some success," said Santa Clara head coach Cameron Rast. "It's the games you want in the spring to test yourself and we learned a lot from the game. We learned what it takes to create chances and to gain the run of play in a game. In the first half we didn't do as good a job of compacting the field and supporting our attack. Essentially our attacks were single moments of breaking out so when they broke down it wasn't sustained. You need to be able to sustain attacks in order to dominate stretches of the game. We defended well in moments but had to work a little too hard to do that. We'd like to be a little more efficient and better at reading the moments where we can turn the ball over and go quickly to goal. They had a couple good chances and we had some good chances as well. It reaffirms that we're on the right track and we'll continue to work at what we're doing to get better at it."

The Broncos next game against an opponent will come Sat., May 2 at UC Santa Barbara at 12 p.m.
