Former Bronco Goalkeeper Larry Jackson Signs with Wilmington Hammerheads of USL

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Former Santa Clara men's soccer goalkeeper Larry Jackson has signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads of the United Soccer League. Jackson was named the 2012 West Coast Conference Goalie of the Year at Santa Clara and to the 2012 Continental Tires NSCAA All-Far West Region Third Team.

"After what must have been an unforgettable year with the New England Revolution, Larry looked at his options and found a great opportunity to play," said Santa Clara head coach Cameron Rast. "He will gain some valuable experience which will allow him to continue progressing in the game.""

Jackson had previously signed with the New England Revolution in 2014 and spent 2013 as an undergraduate assistant with the Broncos. He also had a brief trial run with the Colorado Rapids of the MLS that year.

His senior year Jackson played and started in 18 of SCU's 19 games, posting an 8-2-1 record in league play.  He led the WCC with a 0.70 goals against average and six shutouts in league play in 2012.  Logging nearly 1,7000 minutes, he had 60 saves his senior year and led the team to an 11-5-1 record with seven shutouts. 

The Hammerheads open the regular season Sat., March 28 at 4 p.m. Pacific.
