Jonathan Jarrett Begins Career With Santa Clara

SCB: Why did you choose Santa Clara University?

JJ: The soccer program at Santa Clara has a history of playing in the NCAA tournament, while the school provides an outstanding level of education. Santa Clara is the perfect mix of academics, athletics, and location; you couldn't ask for a better combination of the three. On my visit to Santa Clara, I felt incredibly comfortable with the coaching staff and the entire Bronco community. I felt right at home.

SCB: What is one thing you're looking forward to here at Santa Clara?

JJ: I love the location of Santa Clara and I am looking forward to enjoying all that the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer. I love exploring the different cities, opening up my eyes to different experiences, and embracing the culture of the West Coast.

SCB: Do you have any goals as a player for your first college season?

JJ: I redshirted my freshman year due to breaking my left foot in preseason. However, I would love to be selected for the All-Freshman Team next season. I would love to make an impact on the team and be a part of making the NCAA Tournament next year.

SCB: What do you like most about playing for the Broncos?

JJ: I love the feeling of being a family and everybody having a role on the team. We are all different people from different backgrounds, but when we play soccer we become one collective group. The Santa Clara soccer team has a good foundation and idea of unity.

SCB: What upper class-man have helped you out the most this season?

JJ: Everybody on the team has been welcoming and open to the new freshman. Every team member goes out their way to include the new players in everything they do. If I had to choose one, I would say Edson Cardona has helped me develop the most into a college student and athlete.

SCB: How are you going to prepare yourself for next season during the offseason?

JJ: My main goal this offseason is to get back in shape and be physically ready for next season. I missed my whole freshman season due to a broken foot. Now that my foot has healed, it is my job to get back to playing the sport I love.
