Meet the Future of Santa Clara Men's Soccer: Brandon Gillingham

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Getting ready to welcome the newest Broncos to the team, Santa Clara men's soccer welcomes Brandon Gillingham in the signing class of 2015. Gillingham is from San Jose, Calif. and attended Bellarmine College Prep.

"I chose Santa Clara because I want to win a national championship," said Gillingham.

"Brandon is a born leader with a no nonsense approach to the game," said Santa Clara head coach Cameron Rast. "He is a tough midfielder who is strong in the tackle, but with an ability to play which is a somewhat rare combination. His ability to win a ball and play in and out of tight spaces makes him a great option in our midfield or back line. Everything I know about him tells me he is willing to do what is necessary to win games."

Gillingham was a member of the De Anza Force U18 for two years and the U16 for two years. In 2014 his U18 team made the playoffs. In 2013 his U16 team finished fifth place overall in the USSDA.

His mother Tiffiny was an All-American tennis player at UC Berkeley and played professionally. His father Chuck played football at Stanford and coached football at Santa Clara during law school.

In his free time Gillingham enjoys swimming, hanging out with friends, and skydiving.
