Moving Forward with Steve Eneme

Moving Forward with Steve Eneme

Dylan Lynch '16

After a devastating injury his freshman year led Steve Eneme (SE) to utilize his redshirt season, Eneme is now coming off a stellar fall season and already looking forward to his next.  Eneme took advantage of his time off the field during his freshman year to work on analyzing the game from a coach's standpoint.  That experience, as well as his grueling rehabilitation, eventually led to Eneme earning a spot on the WCC All-Freshman Team in 2014.  Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) talked with the redshirt freshman about his SCU experience thus far.

SCB: How do you feel your redshirt season last year benefited you coming into this past season?

SE: It gave me more time to analyze the game and think more from a coach's point of view.  As you know, I suffered a season-ending injury and so the bench is where I mainly stayed during the season of my freshman year.

SCB: How do you plan to improve upon your performance for next season?

SE: I plan to score more goals and help our team win a National Championship.

SCB: Can you talk a little about the team's chemistry and how you work as a team to build camaraderie?

SE: Our team is very close and we enjoy each other's company on and off the field.  We always hang out and we are each other's closest friends.
SCB: What has been your most memorable moment on the field thus far at SCU?

SE: When Ryan Masch scored a late free kick this past season.  It won us the game and was on the Wtv.com Top Play Tuesday.

SCB: Do you have any pre-game rituals?

SE: I like to warm up and get a lot of sleep.  Right before the game starts, I like to talk with my teammates about what we will do during the game.
