NEW ORLEANS — Santa Clara's Zach Litoff as well as the men's and women's track & field teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic awards for the 2018-19 season, announced by the association on Monday.
Litoff, a double-major in individual studies and studio art, competed at the NCAA West Regional Meet in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His steeple program record 8:47.39 at the Stanford Invitational was the 15th-best time in the west region and 22nd-best time in the NCAA following the regular season.
The men's team finished 2018-19 with a 3.4 GPA while the women's team posted a 3.36 GPA. Both squads garnered the award for the second season in a row.
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
- For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic team honors, the team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
