SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara's Ben Davidson and Emma McCurry earned spots on the 2019 West Coast Conference Cross Country All-Academic Team, announced by the WCC on Wednesday. The Broncos also had 15 runners earn honorable mention accolades.
Davidson, a senior philosophy major with a 3.63 GPA, was named a WCC all-academic honorable mention in 2017 and 2018. He began the season with a 17th-place effort in the USF Invitational 8k. Later in the campaign, Davidson helped Santa Clara to capture fourth place at the WCC Championship and 15th place at the NCAA West Regional Championship; each finish marked the team's best at the respective meet since 2011.
McCurry is the first Bronco women's runner to make the conference's all-academic team since Karen Mac in 2015 and takes home her second straight WCC all-academic accolade after earning an honorable mention in 2018. The junior carries a 3.93 GPA as a bioengineering major. She scored for the Broncos in four of her five races and helped Santa Clara to its best WCC Championship finish since 2011 (6th) and best NCAA West Regional Championship finish since 2012 (23rd).

At the conclusion of each sport's playing season, an all-academic team is selected by the conference office. To be considered, student-athletes must own a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average and participate in at least half of the team's meets.
