Baseball Releases 2020 Schedule

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball released its 2020 schedule featuring games against four teams that qualified for the 2019 NCAA Tournament.  Broncos third-year head coach Rusty Filter made the announcement.

Among the 55 regular-season games, 27 will be played at Stephen Schott Stadium and 28 on the road.  The Broncos will play 10 games against four teams – Stanford, Georgia, Arizona State and LMU – that competed in the NCAA tournament this past spring.

Santa Clara opens its season on the road at San Jose State on Feb. 14 with the home opener also coming against the Spartans on Feb. 16 to close out the four-game series.

Stanford comes to town in the first midweek game of the season on Feb. 18 in the frontend of the home-and-home series.  Later in the season, the Broncos will play at The Farm on May 5.

Starting Feb. 21, Santa Clara will embark on its longest stretch of away games playing eight straight on the road.  The Broncos play a pair of four-games series at Georgia (Feb. 21-23) and at Sacramento State (Feb. 27 – March 1).

The Broncos open West Coast Conference play at Gonzaga (March 13-15) for one of five road series in league play.  They also travel to BYU (March 26-28), San Francisco (April 9-11), San Diego (May 1-3) and Pacific (May 15-17).

The four WCC home series are against Saint Mary's (April 3-5), Pepperdine (April 17-19), LMU (April 24-26) and Portland (May 8-10).

Midweek games include two home-and-home series against Stanford and Cal Poly (home on March 3, away on April 28) along with one game each against Boise State (March 24), Arizona State (March 31), Washington (April 20) and Washington State (May 13), all at home.

The game against Washington State is the final home game of the regular before the Broncos head to Pacific to close out the regular season.

The top-four teams from the conference standings will participate in the 2020 WCC Conference Championship from May 21-23 at Stockton, California.  The winner of the conference tournament will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Regionals.
