Baseball’s MacNichols Named Rawlings WCC Player of the Week
 
SAN BRUNO Calif.Jake MacNichols earned Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors after belting four home runs and driving in 11 runs in the four-game series sweep of San José State to open the 2020 season.  
 
In the series, MacNichols posted a slash line of .412/.524/1.118, going deep in each game of the double header on Saturday and a pair in Sunday's series finale. 
 
In the first game of the double header on Saturday, MacNichols hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth inning in Santa Clara's 2-1 victory while playing left field.  
 
MacNichols was the catcher in the second game and his three-run blast in the opening frame gave the Broncos a 3-0 lead in a game they would go on to win 13-2.   
 
On Sunday, he blasted two more home runs and drove in a career-high five RBIs in the 18-4 triumph to complete the sweep over the Spartans to help Santa Clara race to a 4-0 start on the season, their best since 2012.  
 
This is MacNichols' first Rawlings WCC Player of the Week honor.
