SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the fifth member of the 2020 recruiting class, Dalton Durossette, an elite three-sport athlete from Central Catholic High in Modesto, California.
"I chose Santa Clara because it is a beautiful university in an incredible location that has everything to offer," said Durossette. "It is close to home so I am happy that my family will be able to attend all of my games. Santa Clara University is known across the country as a highly regarded academic institution so I am excited to receive a great education. The baseball coaches make me feel like I have known them for years. Coach Filter has had incredible success in getting his players drafted and I truly felt like that is his plan for each and every player he coaches."
A three-time letterwinner in baseball, basketball and football, the rugged right-hander utilized his big arm on the mound and played quarterback for the Raiders. On the hardwood, the 6-foot-3 Durossette was a power forward/guard who captained the team during his sophomore season.
Last spring on the diamond, Durossette posted a 3-1 record with a 2.10 ERA striking out 46 over 40 innings while holding the opponents to a .192 batting average.
In the summer of 2018, Durossette pitched for the Oakland A's Area Code Baseball Underclass Games.
As the field general on the gridiron, Durossette threw 39 touchdown passes over two varsity seasons completing nearly 58 percent of his 285 pass attempts. A captain during his senior campaign, he was named all-league three times.
"We are excited to bring in another multi-sport star in Central Catholic's Dalton Durossette," said Broncos head coach Rusty Filter. "Dalton was an elite quarterback and ace for Central Catholics football and baseball programs. A Norcal Valley product, Dalton brings a competitive mentality on the mound and is backed up by his heavy fastball. We project Dalton to become a true workhouse on the mound for the Bronco Boys."
Our next future Bronco, Efrain Manzo, will be announced the week of Dec. 23.
