Honolulu, Hawaii-- Finally the Santa Clara men's team can enjoy Hawaii. After a tough first two rounds that left them sitting in 17th place, the Broncos made a furious push in the last round, moving all the way up to 12th and just two shots from a top ten finish with the third best team round of the day.

The team's 274 was right behind USC and Arizona State on the day, and even beat the eventual winner, Stanford, on the day. Scott Travers finished off a great tournament with a fantastic final round. Travers shot a four-under 66, tied for the best round of the day. He had a birdie try for a 29 on his first nine holes, but it barely missed. He stayed even for the rest of the round to finish tied for 11th.

Jimmy Cacho and Alex Bon both shot a one-under 69 in the final round. Cacho ended up at -2 for the tournament which earned him a top-20 finish. Bon ended up at +7. Kellen Moss played a solid round in which he shot an even-par 70 and finished his tournament at +6.

"Our putts just fell today," said head coach Robert Miller. "We had been striking the ball well all tournament, but it always comes down to putts."

The team took some getting used to the greens and the bermuda grass, but they played with confidence and it showed in the final round.

"We were putting ourselves in good positions before, but more putts fell today," said Travers. "It's very encouraging to go -6 as a team. If we play like we did in this round, we can compete with anybody."
