Newport Beach, Calif.- Scott Travers had two rounds of 68, shotputting him and the Santa Clara men's golf team to the front of the leaderboard at the UC Irvine Anteater Classic. The Broncos shot a team score of 567 after the first two rounds and lead by six strokes.

Travers has been playing at a high level for some time now, and this kind of performance has been a possibility. He is eight-under part and leads the tournament by four strokes.

Jimmy Cacho and Alex Bon are both hanging around the top ten as well. Cacho had rounds of 71 and 73 while Bon shot a 73 and a 71 respectively for both players to end up at even par and tied for ninth place.

Senior Tim Lynch stumbled in the first round with a 77, but came back strong in the second with a three-under 69. He is currently tied for 12th.

Shaun Pienkos is still in the hunt to score, with rounds of 74 and 77, putting him tied for 27th.

Last year, UCI won their tournament by 19 strokes. The Broncos quest for the win begins tomorrow morning and will end around 3 p.m. with the awards ceremony.
