West Coast Conference Announces Women's Basketball Schedule

SANTA CLARA, Calif.
– The West Coast Conference announced the 2021-22 women's basketball conference schedule on Wednesday, with Santa Clara playing 18 games.

League play begins December 30 as the Bronco welcome rival Saint Mary's to Leavey Center. They then take a short trip up to San Francisco on January 1 to begin a three-game road trip that also features games at Pacific (Jan. 6) and at Gonzaga (Jan. 8).

Santa Clara returns home to for three in a row with visits from Pepperdine (Jan. 13), the Dons (Jan. 15), and LMU (Jan. 20).

Bill Carr enters his sixth season at the helm of the Broncos. Last year the team earned the fourth seed in the WCC Tournament play and made it to the semifinals for the first time since 2016. They look to for another strong season as they bring back a roster that lost just one player.

Leading scorer Lindsay VanAllen, who scored 13.0 points per game last year looks to team with returner Merle Wiehl who added 11.6 ppg. Wiehl's 5.1 rebounds per game are the most amongst returners.

Both VanAllen and Wiehl were Second Team All-WCC a season ago and Ashley Hiraki, who scored 5.2 ppg, being named All-Freshman. Wiehl was also named to the WCC All-Tournament Team.

The remaining home conference games will be against Pacific (Jan. 29), San Diego (Feb. 5), Gonzaga (Feb. 10), and BYU (Feb. 24). The Broncos will play road games at Portland (Jan. 22), BYU (Jan. 27), Saint Mary's (Feb. 3), LMU (Feb. 12), Pepperdine (Feb. 17), and San Diego (Feb. 26).

The West Coast Conference Tournament will be in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena March 3-8.
