Women's Basketball Adds Three NLIs

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball has added three NLI's for the 2022-23 season. Marya Hudgins, Tess Heal, and Georgia Grigoropoulou are the Broncos that will join the team.

"We are excited to have Tess, Marya and Georgia join our Bronco family," head coach Bill Carr said. "This is a group of student athletes that will help us continue to compete at a high level. Furthermore, all three will be great representatives, on and off the floor, of our basketball program and Santa Clara University."

Marya Hudgins | G | 6-0 | Aurora, Colo.| Grandview High School

Hudgins was a four-year varsity starter and was named First Team All-Centennial League as well as 5A All-State. Her freshman year, the team at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School were State Champions.

As a junior she had three 20-points games. As a sophomore, she scored 17 points in the state semifinals. As a freshman, she scored 26 in the region championship.

Hudgins was named Academic All-State twice.

She played with the 17U EYBL from 9-11th grades and started all three years. She averaged 15 ppg as a junior and 12 ppg as a sophomore.

Her father Drake Hudgins played at Seattle Pacific and went on to play professionally in Brazil.

In her free time, she enjoys graphic design, art, and coaching basketball.

Tess Heal | G | 5-10 | Melbourne, Australia | Lowther Hall

Playing for Victoria Metro, Heal was the captain at the Australian Junior Championships U18 Grand Final and scored 25 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists. It was the third time she captained a Junior National Team and has two goal medals and one silver.

She represented Asia-Pacific in the inaugural Junior NBA Championships in 2018 and her team came in fourth overall.

Heal has been part of the Victorian National Performance Program for three years and in 2019 her youth team won the Division 1 championship. She was named an all-star for her play.

Her brother Shane played in the NBA for the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves for two years.

Georgia Grigoropoulou | F | 6-3 | Athens, Greece | ACS Athens

Grigoropoulou participated in her school's international tournament in both 2020 and 2021. She was named an all-star for her performance.

She has been with the U15, U16, and U18 National Teams as a starter. In 2021-22 she played in Eurocup Women and A1 Women's Basketball League of Greece with the team. She was also with A1 in 2019-20.

She was a U18 All-Star in 2021 and her team came in second place in the National Championship in 2020.

With U16 team, Grigoropoulou was her team's MVP as they won the title. The U16's were Champions of East Attica from 2016-19 and won the East Attica Cup from 2017-20 while she was the MVP in 2019. Grigoropoulou was also a U16 National Champion and All-Star from 2018-20.

Away from the court, she has spent time volunteering at an animal shelter.
